Venom

Storyline

Venom is an irreverent, fast-paced, and darkly humorous sci-fi action thriller directed by Ruben Fleischer, boldly launching Sony's Spider-Man Universe by reimagining Marvel's legendary lethal protector into a captivating anti-hero origin story. The narrative focuses on Eddie Brock, an intrepid, outspoken San Francisco investigative broadcast journalist whose relentless crusades against systemic corruption collapse into personal and professional ruin after he confronts Carlton Drake, the charismatic yet ruthlessly sociopathic billionaire CEO of the Life Foundation. Stripped of his high-profile journalism career and dumped by his fiancée, attorney Anne Weying, Eddie hits rock bottom until an ethically conscience-stricken Life Foundation whistleblower sneaks him into Drake's subterranean laboratory. There, Drake has been conducting illicit, lethal human trials with shapeshifting extraterrestrial predatory organisms known as symbiotes, recovered from an orbital space probe. When an infected patient breaks loose, a ravenous alien symbiote bonds to Eddie's body on a cellular level, creating a volatile, symbiotic relationship that endows Eddie with monstrous superhuman physical strength, razor-sharp claws, tendril appendages, and regenerative capabilities. Constantly bickering with the bloodthirsty, chocolate-craving alien consciousness inside his mind, Eddie must adapt to his grotesque dual existence while being hunted across San Francisco's hilly streets by Drake's heavily armed mercenary squads. When Drake merges with Riot, an apocalyptic symbiote leader plotting to ferry thousands of symbiotes to Earth to eradicate human civilization, Eddie and Venom must harmonize their bizarre partnership to prevent global annihilation. Driven by Tom Hardy's wildly charismatic, uninhibited dual performance, Venom is an electrifying cinematic joyride.
