Storyline

Morbius is a dark, atmospheric, and gothic superhero sci-fi thriller directed by Daniel Espinosa, expanding Sony's Spider-Man Universe by bringing one of Marvel Comics' most tragic and complex nocturnal anti-heroes to the screen. Renowned biochemist Dr. Michael Morbius has dedicated his entire adult life to medical research, motivated by a desperate quest to find a genetic cure for the rare, debilitating blood disease that has crippled both him and his surrogate brother, Milo, since childhood. After receiving the Nobel Prize for inventing synthetic artificial blood, Morbius embarks on an audacious, ethically precarious scientific gamble in international waters, combining human DNA with the anticoagulant biological enzymes of predatory vampire bats. While the experimental transgenics miraculously restore his physical vitality, imbuing him with superhuman strength, ultrasonic echolocation, and the power of aerokinetic gliding, the procedure exacts a horrific, predatory curse: an insatiable, overwhelming thirst for warm human blood that turns him into a living vampire. Horrified by the brutal massacre of mercenaries during his initial blackout transformation aboard the research vessel, Morbius desperately develops synthetic blood substitutes to suppress his predatory feral impulses. However, the tragedy deepens exponentially when Milo secretly administers the unrefined serum to himself, embracing the vampiric curse with unrepentant, murderous euphoria and slaughtering innocent citizens across Manhattan.
