Mirzapur

Storyline

Created by Karan Anshuman and Puneet Krishna and produced by Excel Entertainment, Amazon Prime Video's crime thriller Mirzapur became an explosive, unmatched pop-culture sensation across India, spawning hundreds of viral memes, iconic catchphrases, and record-setting viewership. Set in the lawless, gun-toting heartland of Purvanchal in Uttar Pradesh, the series revolves around Akhandanand Tripathi, popularly known as 'Kaleen Bhaiya' (Pankaj Tripathi in an immortal, understated performance of quiet menace and patriarchal authority)—the benevolent carpet exporter who rules the city's illegal arms and narcotics syndicates with an iron fist. His reckless, psychopathic son Munna (Divyenndu in a beloved, unhinged turn) aspires to inherit the throne but constantly stumbles into disaster. When Munna crashes a wedding and shoots the groom, he crosses paths with two upright college brothers, Guddu (Ali Fazal) and Bablu Pandit (Vikrant Massey), sons of an uncorrupted lawyer. Recognizing their muscle and intellect, Kaleen Bhaiya recruits them into his empire, triggering an irreversible bloodbath of betrayal, revenge, and political power plays. Filled with dark humor, shocking deaths, and raw regional authenticity, Mirzapur reigns as the king of desi crime drama.
