Jumanji: The Next Level

Storyline

Jumanji: The Next Level is a wildly imaginative, box-office-shattering action-adventure comedy directed by Jake Kasdan, brilliantly expanding the high-concept body-swapping dynamics of the revitalized Jumanji franchise. Two years after escaping the treacherous video game, the four teenage friends—Spencer, Fridge, Bethany, and Martha—struggle with the awkward transitions of college life and adulthood. Plagued by lingering self-doubt, nostalgia, and feelings of insignificance, Spencer secretly repairs the smashed video-game cartridge in his mother's basement and impulsively gets pulled back into the perilous virtual realm. When his friends discover his disappearance, they bravely jump back into the console to mount a rescue, only for the malfunctioning game to glitch uncontrollably, dragging along Spencer’s cantankerous, ailing grandfather Eddie and his estranged former business partner Milo Walker. To their absolute horror, the avatars are chaotically randomized: Eddie finds himself inhabiting the muscle-bound, smoldering body of Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Milo becomes the diminutive, zoologist Franklin 'Mouse' Finbar, Fridge is forced into the portly, out-of-shape Professor Sheldon Oberon, while Martha remains the fierce martial artist Ruby Roundhouse. Thrust into unforgiving, scorching desert dunes and freezing alpine glaciers, the fractured crew must master their mismatched avatars, adapt to new game mechanics, and defeat the brutal warlord Jurgen the Ghaunt to recover a mystical royal jewel. Powered by Dwayne Johnson’s uproarious mimicry of Danny DeVito, seamless ensemble chemistry, and dazzling action set-pieces, Jumanji: The Next Level is a laugh-out-loud, deeply heartwarming exploration of aging, friendship, and self-acceptance.
