Storyline

Deadpool, directed with relentless irreverence by Tim Miller, is an audaciously subversive, foul-mouthed, and wildly entertaining R-rated action comedy that completely revolutionized modern comic-book cinema by shattering the fourth wall. The origin saga introduces Wade Wilson, a cynical, quick-witted Special Forces operative turned New York mercenary who protects vulnerable teenage girls from stalkers. Wade’s happily crude existence alongside the love of his life, Vanessa, is brutally derailed when he is diagnosed with terminal late-stage cancer in his vital organs. Desperate to spare Vanessa the trauma of watching him slowly die, Wade accepts a shadowy offer from a clandestine operative promising a miraculous cure and superhuman abilities. Delivered into the sadistic laboratory of Ajax (Francis Freeman), Wade is subjected to horrific, prolonged physical torture designed to trigger latent mutant genes under extreme biological stress. The experiment succeeds, granting Wade an invincible, instantaneous regenerative healing factor, but leaves his skin horribly burned and disfigured. Escaping the incinerated facility, Wade crafts a signature crimson-and-black spandex suit and adopts the moniker 'Deadpool', embarking on a bloody, violent crusade across the criminal underworld with an arsenal of katanas and dual handguns to hunt down Ajax and force him to cure his appearance.
