Stree 2

Amar Kaushik's 2024 blockbuster Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank, produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Supernatural Universe, made box office history by grossing over ₹850 crore worldwide to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time in domestic net collections. Returning to the eerie, folklore-rich town of Chanderi, the narrative picks up years after the town was liberated from the vengeful female spirit Stree. However, a terrifying new supernatural entity arrives: 'Sarkata'—a headless, misogynistic demonic demon who abducts modern, independent women to drag society back into patriarchal darkness. Vicky (Rajkummar Rao in a comedic, romantic tour de force), alongside his loyal bickering friends Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana) and Janna (Abhishek Banerjee), and wise occult scholar Rudra Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), must seek the help of their former adversary Stree and the enigmatic, nameless ghost-woman (Shraddha Kapoor). Blending laugh-out-loud situational comedy, jump scares, and sharp progressive satire with unforgettable cameos by Varun Dhawan (as Bhediya) and Akshay Kumar, Stree 2 redefined the horror-comedy genre in Indian cinema. Breaking all previous records held by Bollywood giants, Stree 2 demonstrated the immense commercial potential of India's indigenous horror-comedy folklore. Its infectious blend of genuine terror, razor-sharp dialogue, and stellar comedic chemistry between Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, and Pankaj Tripathi elevated the Maddock Supernatural Universe into a multi-billion-rupee cinematic juggernaut.
